Concave & convex in Science

In Science K4 we investigated spoons. They are like mirrors. The front of the spoon is concave and the back is convex.
We drew ourselves upside down looking at the front of the spoon. Have a look at the pics!

BUILDING A BALLOON ROCKET

In K5 Science we have built a balloon rocket. We’ve had so much fun! Here are the instructions:
-Thread one end of the string through the straw
-Tie each end of the string between two solid supports such as a chair, table leg or door knob, making sure it is strung tightly.
-Blow up the balloon but do not tie it.
-Holding the opening of the balloon closed with your fingers, tape one side of the balloon to the straw so that it hangs horizontally below the string.
-Get ready for launch and let the end of the balloon go. Watch as the air escapes and sends your balloon rocketing across the string track!
READY STEADY GO,

MIXING OIL AND WATER

In Science K5 we took water and oil, mixed them together and shook as hard as we could- and you know what?
The oil always floated back to the top.
How amazing! Have a look at the pictures.

YELLOW SOAP BUBBLES

In K5 Science we coloured water with artificial saffron and made super soap bubbles using straws, yellow water and dish soap. Have a look at the outcome! We had a lot of fun!

PRIMARY COLOUR MIXING

In K4 Science we have learnt to mix paints to get other colours.
Blue and yellow make green! How cool!
We’ve started learning how tu use a pipette, too!
Have a look.

What is growing on that disk?

Today in our Science class we have studied the fouling of our Virtue disks using even stereo microscopes. Andrea and Judit, 1st ESO students have come to help us to identify organisms and we could draw the results on ipads.
Andrea has had the virtue rack placed for five months in Roses.
We saw living “mantis shrimps”, algaes and many other organisms.
It was really interesting!
Have a look at the pics!

Look this is a grown up mantis shrimp, ours are very tiny!
